RE: r1200s meltdown - Q-JP - 30.07.2014

a real meltdown.

it seems that you should buy a new engine and take from this one the parts which are not damage and keep it as spare parts.

it would be much faster Wink

Alex Mülller a welllknown Boxerracer still wants to sell one engine.

Hello Gus.
Shit, but what happened? Torn off valve? Therefore destroyed piston? And came the sudden, or has announced the defect by loss of power, rattle, or what else? Tell us more, Gus.

The core meltdown in a supernova

Sorry Gus, but all parts of this engine are shock loadet and completely untrustable trash. Even the left-side parts, which seems looking well.
Dont use any part for a new engine.
The question is why this happened ?
Make shure that your air/fuel-rate is 12,8 : 1 or richer :hamm:

RE: r1200s meltdown - Gus - 30.07.2014

Hello
It happened very quickly , about 7500 -8000 rpm in fourth going up horsepower hill. Sudden loud noise and immediate loss of power .
I think that a valve or valves failed, causing the piston to disintegrate and get caught up in the crank and damage the engine case.
The bike had less than. 10,000 miles and was set up on a dyno with a power commander 3. Fueling was perfect. I have performed meticulous maintenance
Schedules.
A new engine will be acquired and fitted during the autumn/winter.
Will be back next year racing.
All the best
Gus

RE: r1200s meltdown - Rika - 31.07.2014

Gus...
...your exhaust valves have been glown away !
If fueling was perfect, something else different must have been wrong.
Material fatigue at 10.000 miles is very unlikely.
Don´t risk the new engine without controll the important 8 parameters of engine healthy

If you come to Germany next year, take 3 test-runs on my dyno. You will get a realtime data recording of
- Horsepower
- Torque
- AFR
- Ignition angle
- Knock sensor activity
- Cylinder head temperature
- Exhaust temperature
- Oil pressure and oil flowback temperature

This dyno- runs are free for you as the first englisch BoxerRacer on my dyno.......
Big Grin
